A complete Preference Set contains 8 Categories of information - 7 of filtering criteria and 1 of mailbox processing option specifications.
The filtering criteria categories and contents are: o Private Correspondents - full or partial external URLs of those from whom incoming mail is always to be accepted and to whom outgoing mail can always be transmitted. o Public Correspondents - IDs/UserNames of domain-internal mailboxes which can receive mail from and transmit mail to any external URL o New Contact Correspondents - ID/UserName of domain-internal mailboxes which can send mail to any external URL and restrict the e-mail response capability of the mail addressee. o Wanted Text Content - Character strings whose appearance in one of the text fields of an incoming mail cause the e-mail to be classified "qualified/wanted". o SAWanted Text Content - Character strings whose appearance in one of the text fields of an incoming and an outgoing mail cause the e-mail to be classified "qualified/wanted". o SADomains of Interest - Complete or partial URLs whose appearance in one of the envelope address fields of an incoming and an outgoing mail cause the e-mail to be classified "qualified/wanted". o SANames - Domain-internal mailbox User-ID/UserName whose appearance in one of the envelope address fields of an incoming and an outgoing mail cause the e-mail to be classified "qualified/wanted".
The Options category contains information that is required for mailbox traffic processing and management but is not filtering criteria - such as : o Unwanted mail disposition instructions: o Transaction Logging ON/OFF State. o Other information required by an EPA licensee.
Wanted is applied only to Internet-incoming mail. New is applied only to Internet-outgoing mail. All other categories are applied to all mail - whether incoming or outgoing.
System Administrator's criteria - that exist only when the domain owner has appointed such - are: 1. SADomains - complete or partial URL's whose appearance in traffic is of interest to the SysAdmin. 2. SAWanted Text - character strings whose appearance in traffic is of interest to the SysAdmin.
The criteria associated with these categories exist only in the SysAdmin's personal mailbox. If such exist, they are included dynamically for filtering of every EPA Mailbox's traffic before the user's criteria are applied.
Mailbox user's criteria: 1. SANames - the User Name of each domain SysAdmin or of each domain SysSuper. 1. Private - known & trusted - Correspondents: 2. Wanted Text: character strings whose appearance in traffic is of interest to the mailbox user. 3. Public Correspondents - UserNames of domain mailboxes which accept all mail and can send to any domain-exterior mailbox 4. New Contact Correspondents: UserNames of domain mailboxes from which e-mail can be sent to domains with which there has been no previous contact.
Every Preference Set must contain at least 2 categories - SANames and Options. Additional categories can be included to meet specific objectives. The combination of categories present is referred to as the "Preference Set Configuration.
