You will see the terms EPA Mailbox and EPA Mailroom used extensively. In fact, these terms are employed merely as useful task-context descriptors.
An EPA Mailbox serves as a container for all of the information that EPA uses to process the mailbox's traffic. It does not serve as a storage container for any e-mails.
EPA Mailroom describes location of the collection of EPA's processing activities and working storage on the domain's mail server.
EPA Mail Clerk refers to all of the EPA software processes that are resident in the domain mail-server host hardware/software system.
EPA Window Clerk is the client-side software which interfaces: o A mailbox user to the Mail Clerk o A SysAdmin/SysSuper to the mailroom
EPA Preference Set is a term used to describe all of the customizations - filtering criteria and processing options - which can exist for an EPA mailbox. A single Set may be used to control EPA processing for multiple mailboxes.
User-ID and UserName are interchangeable references to the unique identifier of both a single EPA Mailbox and the associated actual e-mailbox situated at the mail server.
EPA SysAdmin refers to a person who performs EPA Mailroom installation, maintenance functions, domain traffic monitoring/management and Preference Set management for all domain mailboxes. A SysAdmin can can appoint/create additional SysAdmins and SysSupers.
EPA SysSuper refers to a person who performs only EPA Mailroom installation, maintenance functions and Preference Set management only for their own personal EPA Mailbox. A SysAdmin can can appoint/create additional SysSupers but NOT additional SysAdmins.
EPA Mailbox Key is a 6-16 character string which must be provided to the Window Clerk when a user wishes to access their personal EPA Mailbox for maintenance or audit purposes.
EPA Admin Key is a 6-16 character string which must be provided to the Window Clerk when the user wishes to access the EPA Mailroom to perform administrative operations on mailboxes and the mailroom.
The EPA Domain Default Preference Set is an optionally-configured Preference Set that will be used to process traffic associated with any actual mailbox for which no Preference Set has been established.
If this Set is defined, every domain mailbox will be subject to EPA management - either according to its' defined Set or the Default Set. In this Set's absence, the traffic of only those mailboxes with defined Sets is processed and all other's traffic is ignored.
An EPA Mailbox Configuration is a short-hand description of the Preference Set of the mailbox content, the domain e-mail facilities which the mailbox can access and the relationship of the mailbox owner to all other mailbox owners in the EPA Mailroom.
