Filtering criteria for a mailbox's traffic are defined by the box's owner via the Windows-resident remote or server-local EPA Client Interface.

EPA process components can be retro-fitted and integrated into almost all currently operational e-mail server systems - including both those using unique proprietary software and those using commercial e-mail products which do not include the EPA process. 99%+ of all e-mail systems fall into one or the other of these types.
