Classification Labeling

All EPA Preferences Categories entries in a domain are specified either as 'tables' - composed of columns and rows - or as a 'list' - a one-column table.

Each Preferences Category has an associated unique numeric ID; and
   1 = Private
   2 = Public
   3 = Wanted
   4 = GANew
   5 = GADomains
   6 = GAWanted
   7 = GANames
   8 = New
   9 = SADomains
   10 = SAWanted
   11 = SANames

Upon finding a Preferences Set criteria entry that matches applicable e-mail content, the EPA Mail Clerk remembers both the specific Preferences Category ID and the Category row number of the matching entry.

These two values determine the post-classification processing of the e-mail.

The EPA Mail Clerk inserts a Classification Stamp into the Mail Traffic Log entry of each processed e-mail.

This Classification Stamp indicates both the 'wanted' or 'unwanted' status of the e-mail as well as the basis for the classification.

The Mail Traffic Log entry for a 'wanted' e-mail contains
   |EPA+1, X| if the Row X entry in the Private Category was matched.
   |EPA+2, X| if the Row X entry in the Public Category was matched.
   |EPA+3, X| if the Row X entry in the Wanted Category was matched.
   |EPA+4, X| if the Row X entry in the GANew Category was matched.
   |EPA+5, X| if the Row X entry in the GADomains was matched.
   |EPA+6, X| if the Row X entry in the GAWanted Category was matched.
   |EPA+7, X| if the Row X entry in the GANames Category was matched.
   |EPA+8, X| if the Row X entry in the New Category was matched.
   |EPA+9, X| if the Row X entry in the SADomains Category was matched.
   |EPA+10, X| if the Row X entry in the SAWanted Category was matched.
   |EPA+11, X| if the Row X entry in the SANames Category was matched.

If lists are used to define the Preferences Sets, the entries may appear as shown above with or without an identification of the specific row matched - depending upon implementation.

Classification as 'unwanted' does not result from a single match but a failure to match any Preferences Category entry. Hence, all 'unwanted' mail receives a Classification Stamp of
|EPA--|.
