During its' operation, the Mail Clerk's Window will display messages to:
1. Alert you to actions you need to take.
2. Allow you to make a 'yes' or 'no' decision in response to a processing option.
3. Confirm actions performed for you upon completion.

All messages appear in the following form:
m2201

The title bar identifies "EPA Mail Room Supervisor" as the sender and contains a 4-digit Message Reference Number. The first digit of the number indicates the type of message; and
"1" indicates a Required Action Alert
"2" indicates a Yes/No Dialogue
"3" indicates an Action Confirmation
"4" indicates a Operational Status Advisory

Additionally, when the Window Clerk is not actively performing some operation for you, at the bottom of your screen you'll see
status - idle

While the Window Clerk is using the Internet to perform an operation, a message is displayed to advise you of the progress of the operation. In periods of heavy Internet usage or temporary Internet access delay, you may see the situational status messages displayed:
m4101

If the Internet response time is near instantaneous, you will not be able to see the message. This is the normal mode of operation you should expect. If you see a message for more than 20 seconds, something has gone wrong with your Internet connection!

Each such message is explained fully in the following sections.
