Understand the Mail Traffic Log

The Mail Clerk records the processing and disposition of every e-mail addressed to an EPA Mailbox - including Shared and Default Mailboxes if present - in the box's Mail Traffic Log. Additionally, the entry is recorded in the domain's Mail Traffic Log.  
 
The 5-line Log entry for each e-mail looks like:

   To: demo1@epamail.com  
   From: bchef@umich.edu  
   Subject: |EPA+1|Today's Register Article  
    Wanted: Forwarded to inbox @pragmasinc. com  
 
-----Mon May 24 16:39:23 2004 reflects when the EPA Mail Clerk began to process the e-mail.  
 
To:
and From: display the e-mail envelope's field contents as received.  
 
Subject:
displays the e-mail envelope's field contents with an EPA Mail Clerk Classification Stamp  
- in this case
|EPA+1| - inserted to indicate the basis for the Mail Clerk's decision. The following stamps may appear:  
|EPA+1| if 'wanted' because it's from a Private Correspondent  
|EPA+2| if 'wanted' because it's to a Public Correspondent  
|EPA+3| if 'wanted' because it's subject is of interest  
|EPA--| if the e-mail is 'unwanted'.  
 
The last line of the entry indicates the disposition action the Mail Clerk applied and will appear as one of the following:  
Wanted: Forwarded to <email_address>  
Unwanted: Forwarded to <email_address>  
Unwanted: Rejected  
Unwanted: Discarded  
 
All time and date information recorded in these entries are those present in the e-mail server host system at the time the Mail Clerk processing occurs.  
 
Part of the transaction entry content is derived from the e-mail's Envelope fields.  
 
The entries in the log are presented for viewing in "last-in/first-out" (LIFO) order with the latest entry presented first and others in reverse order of e-mail receipt/entry generation.
